日本人として初めてアメリカの報道写真誌「LIFE」と契約した写真家、三木淳。本書は、シベリア帰還兵、血のメーデー、朝鮮戦争、５０年代のアメリカ、写真家交友録等、1950年代の三木の代表的な仕事で構成した写真集。富める国アメリカと敗戦の痛手生々しい日本の素顔。収録写真は128葉、判型は270mm×220mmで筒箱入り、1989年出版。

Camera Eye of LIFE by Jun MIKI
Jun Miki was born in 1919 in Okayama Prefecture and graduated from the Faculty of Economics,Keio University.While attending university he worked as an apprentice to graphic designer Yusaku Kamekura and photographer Ken Domon.
After his release from compulsory military service at the end of WWII he worked briefly with a trading from,then became a news photographer.
In 1949 he photographed Japanese soldiers repatriated from Soviet prison camps for LIFE magazine which,impressed by his camera work,signed him to a contact.At the invitation of the magazine he made his visit in 1954 to the USA where he shot a photo essay"MIKI sees America"which includes glimpses of the South,Boston,Detroit and New York,and more than 30portraits of noted American and foreign artists and photographers.
